Kroz psiholoske portrete i razlicite ljudske karaktere stanara pansiona i uglednih pariskih dama opisan je citav Pariz.Cica Gorio koji je nekada imao mnogo para,ali i dve pohlepne cerke,Anastasiju i Delfinu,zbog kojih je i ostao bez novca bio je prinudjen da stanuje u jednom neuglednom pansionu.Mislim da niko ne opravdava finansijsko iskoriscavanje oca kao i emotivnu bezobzirnost prema njemu,a i jedna prema drugoj.Dve sestre koje su ljubomorne hedna na drugu,hladnokrvni materijalisti nalicije su Pariza.Lose vasitanje naviklo ih je na sjaj i raskos i naucilo da kolicinom novca mere sve vrednosti u zivotu.A tu se provlaci prica o studentu prava Ezenu de Rastinjaku ,koji je dosao u ovaj grad da bi studirao.Medjutim postenog neiskvarenog Ezena zavelo je visoko parisko drustvo ,koje je upoznao preko svoje rodjake,grofice,pa se zaljubio u Delfinu.Bio je deo prividne raskosi Pariza,gde nasmejane i popularne devojke ostavljaju svoje voljene za rad bogatstva.
Pariz,grad ljubavi nosi sa sobom mnogo intriga,razocarenja,padova i pogresnih postupaka.Dobro je sve greske uvideti na vreme i uhvatiti se u kostac sa njima.Rastinjak nam to upravo govori u recrnici obracajuci se Parizu;,,a sada je red na nas dvoje"!!!
